Happy Valley – New Winery Estate

Here are the final pictures of the finished winery estate project.  Although we didn’t begin the preliminary grading work on the project until September 2014, the client was able to move into the finished home in just 10 months, on July 3, 2015!

This was a monumental achievement and was made possible by our timely collaboration with the client and the organizational skills of our gifted project manager, Vittorio Castelli. The project pictures clearly reflect the attention to detail and careful material selection that went into the building of this lovely home. Our client had specific ideas about what she wanted to use for the many finished services pictured in this section. We collaborated with her in the pre-production phase, visiting many local retailers and suppliers in an effort to obtain exactly the look that she wanted. The sculpted hardwood floors, custom cabinetry, countertops, tile surfaces, and lighting clearly demonstrate her well-considered choices.

This is a new home project currently under construction on five rural acres in the Happy Valley area of Santa Cruz County. The Architect on the project is James Stroupe, who graciously recommended us to the clients. There were three Contractors competing for the job. We put a lot of effort into becoming very familiar with the project, exploring the site, getting to know the clients, and offering cost saving options, when requested. We were pleased to be selected as the builder after about two months of effort.

The estate plan calls for a new main house with an open floor plan and large view deck, a pool, and in Phase 2, a guest house. Some of the sunny acreage will be planted in wine grapes to continue the existing vineyard operated by the residents next door.

Our work began in mid September of 2014 with grading of the driveway and building pads. This was followed by the installation of our underground work which included the trenching and placement of utilities, water lines and drainage features. All of our grading and site prep for Phase 1 of the project was completed by early November when the concrete foundations and footings were installed. This was followed by the rapid construction of the three car garage, which has been very practical during our early wet season this year. The main house floor, underfloor utilities, and walls have quickly followed. The roof framing continues and will be complete in early January.
